Challenge #11 - Coconuts (& a Banana)
6/2/08 6:57am
Welcome Final Nine. For this next challenge, we are reviving a very popular challenge - that's right, it's the coconut challenge! In this challenge, you pass out coconuts to your fellow tribemates and the person with the least amount of coconuts collected in the end wins. However, there's a twist this time around.
*pulls a blanket off a plate to reveal nine bananas*
There's a new fruit in this version! Say hello to... THE BANANA. The banana will add a new dimension of strategy. That's because when you give a player a banana.... any coconuts that player gives you are CANCELED! So use this piece wisely, it gives you the power to control your fate.
Each of you will have 15 coconuts and 1 banana. You must give to at least two people (so you can't give all 15 coconuts to one person). The banana can go to anyone. Person with the least amount of coconuts collected wins (it doesn't matter how many bananas you collect, only coconuts are counted in the end.)
Here's an example of the banana in action.
Amanda, Cirie, Natalie, and Parvati are playing this game.
Amanada gives 7 coconuts to Cirie and 8 to Parvati, and the banana to Parvati.
Cirie gives 14 coconuts to Parvati and 1 coconut to Amanda and the banana to Parvati.
Parvati gives 10 coconuts to Amanda and 5 coconuts to Natalie and the banana goes to Cirie.
Natalie gives 5 coconuts each to Amanda, Parvati, and Cirie, and uses her banana against Cirie.
Amanda's banana blocks Parvati, so she only has 6 coconuts (from Cirie and Natalie) in all.
Cirie blocked Parvati, but Parvati didn't give her any, so it was a wasted banana.
She has 12 coconuts.
Parvati blocks Cirie, and it was a good move because she gave the max amount. But she still has 13 coconuts...
Natalie blocked Cirie, but Cirie didn't give her any, so again, the banana was wasted. However, only five coconuts were given to her. Thus Natalie would be the winner of this challenge.
So as you can see the banana has an effect on the game, but the core mechanic of simply not getting coconuts in the first place is still the key to victory. Good luck with the challenge.
AND SINCE I MESSED UP AND POSTED A DAY EARLY (sorry guys!
) NO ONE CAN SUBMIT UNTIL TUESDAY 8 AM EST or the time the challenge was actually supposed to be up. If you submit before Tuesday 8 AM, I won't count your list. Lists must be in before WEDNESDAY 8 AM to make a 24 hour time window. Sorry for messing up the dates I lost track of the days and I seriously thought today was Tuesday already.
